Near the Claremont RSL War Memorial is a children's play area and growing nearby is a special tree.
In the year 2000, members of the Claremont RSL planted a pine tree, the seed of which came from a pine tree germinated from a cone sent back to Australia in 1915 by a solider at Gallipoli.
The tree commemorates the 8,700 Australians (of whom nearly
half have no known grave) who lost their lives at Gallipoli and especially
those who fought and died at the battle of Lone Pine, 6-10 August 1915.
