And here we are again, some would say another year older and wiser...we'd like to think another year more experienced in the baking of the perfect Anzac biscuit!!! Welcome to the 2022 Bake!

With two extra days of baking this year compared to last year, we are ready to bake and deliver our delicious golden biscuits far and wide.

We invite all the readers of our blog to join us again this year. As always, the funds raised will assist the continued operation of our programmes and facilities.

2022 is no different to any previous year, we would not be able to successfully hold an Anzac Bake without our many supporters - from the businesses and organisations selling the biscuits for us, suppliers, volunteers; and of course all our loyal customers who return year after year to buy our biscuits (we hope you are enjoying some as you check out our blog!) - a big thank you to all of you.

If you would like a basket of biscuits for your business to sell, please email us at
auroradisability@auroradisability.org.au or call us on 6273 0916.

Serious business

Orders are order of the day and thank you to all our loyal customers who are waiting patiently for their first order to arrive. Meanwhile some of the early customers are already ringing us for a second order so there will be no taking it easy on the last day of the week...

Sue picked up her orders from Gitu at reception
late yesterday, more happy customers.

Cherie started the day at the butter table.

Along with Emma and Dagmara.

Therese and David busy dating the bags for today.

Pam assisting Julie and Rebecca with labeling the bags
for the days ahead.

Ollie and Ilter measuring ribbon and threading gumnuts.

'

Rod's first day today and what better way to start than
counting cups of rolled oats for the next mix.

Naomi took her first turn at working with
Bryce with Bronte.

Naomi keeps an eye on the mix while Natalie
unwraps the next 10 portions of butter.

Georgia, Heather and Anne on a roll in the kitchen.

Busy in the pantry - Alisha getting the next tray ready.

Jeremy and Kelly on the other table...

And Garry with another tray ready for the ovens.

Relay - Garry to Rony to ovens!

What's this? A crew that's ready for work but there
are no biscuits cool enough to pack yet!
Laurie Sue, Dean and Jordan.

Does the ironing stop for Anzac baking?
That would be a no...the Tearooms still needs aprons.
Viva was happy to get them some ready.

Afternoon shift - Josh worked at the Tearooms this morning
and has now joined the afternoon program
on the butter table with Rony.

Other side are Ollie and Jeremy powering through the
140g portions ready for Monday's baking.

Naomi is preparing some bags this afternoon
ready for next week.

While Alanna cuts up some sheets of baking paper
and Wayne and Kelly label some more bags.

The Aurora Thinkers...Jordan and Rod.

Blogger's note: maybe they were contemplating how much ribbon we use for the Bake? As of yesterday's tally that would be 31 rolls of 25mm tartan ribbon...and we're a long way from finished!!!

Cleanup time in the dry mix corner...
Georgia and Therese sweeping up the day's mess.

There's about enough crumbs left here to make a marble sized biscuit!
Garry and Pam waiting for more mix to roll.

Natalie and Dagmara heading to the kitchen...

To keep Ilter going on ovens.

Laurie and Maree got lifting down to a fine art!

And it's going all guns blazing at the packing table.
Emma and Heather on one side.

Anne and Rebecca on the other.

Say Gumnut! Alisha and Steph on ribbon and gumnut tying
and making sure every packet leaves looking its best.

And finally...from serious business to some fun!

With everyone hiding under masks as well as catering hats
the Phantom Blogger has been challenged to identify
everyone - let's play Celebrety Heads Aurora style!

Raj, Julie, Kelly and Gary were happy to wear
personalised masks for a special photo to finish the week.

We're still packing so the tally is to come soon, but rest assured we'll be back to do it all again on Monday. Have a good and safe weekend everyone, see you next week 😍
